pure water process

At Scotclear we consider pure water window cleaning to be the most complete and thorough window cleaning method there currently is available. The term Pure Water in window cleaning describes regular tap water that has been filtered through a purification system.

Water is classified as either hard or soft. This refers to the amounts and types of minerals built up in the water, the harder the water the more costly it is to purify, and this is usually location dependent. All of Scotland have soft water showing TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) meter readings of 150 ppm (parts per million) or less, whereas most of England, including London typically have hard water at 350-500 ppm in places.

Unlike the traditional window cleaning method, pure water window cleaning (or reach and wash as its more frequently known), uses lightweight telescopic poles with a fixed soft brush head at the end, which feeds water onto the window for the operative to then use to clean the glazing, ledges, and frames.

In addition to Hydrogen and Oxygen (Hâ‚‚O), tap water also contains minerals. For drinking purposes, this isn’t a problem. However, when it comes to cleaning, the likes of calcium, magnesium, and other minerals remain when the water evaporates away. This leaves hard water stains and unpleasant spotting.

Using regular mains water which is forced through a couple of filters; the first is a small Deionisation (D.I.) vessel filter to remove any sediment, the second is a larger D.I. vessel filter to remove any chlorine and on both occasions the water passes through a vessel of high-grade resin which 'polishes' the water. Polish is a term used to describe the final stage of the filtration. This entire process removes the tiny, microscopic particles found within the water, such as high chalk and calcium content.

This water is often described as ‘deionised water’ due to the type of filtration used. The reason for this is that pure water dries in to leave an entirely crystal-clear finish.

Our process allows for the windows to be rinsed and left to dry which results in an immaculate, streak and mark free finish every time.
